The Seahorse and the Lobster- A true love story

Today’s paintings come with a little “his & hers” charm.

On one page of my sketchbook: a delicate little seahorse, floating like a daydream.
On the other: a lobster bold enough to practically climb off the paper and ask where the butter is.

It made me laugh, because honestly… this is exactly what it’s like blending a New England husband with a Southern wife.

He grew up where lobster boils were as normal as backyard barbecues. Crack the claws, melt the butter, roll up your sleeves… it’s practically a rite of passage.

I, on the other hand, come from the land of chicken and dumplings, buttermilk biscuits, and the kind of comfort food that makes you want to put on stretchy pants and thank the Lord.

And somehow… it works.
It more than works — it feels like the best of both worlds.
Warm Southern charm meets coastal New England tradition.

Painting these two today felt like celebrating the beautiful mash-up of who we are:
A little saltwater.
A little comfort.
A little whimsy.
And a whole lot of love.

The seahorse brings the magic.
The lobster brings the feast.
And together, they just fit.

Thanks for painting and smiling along with me. I adore sharing these small slices of life — the memories, the marriage moments, and the watercolor stories that swim right onto the page.

If you grew up eating something entirely different from the person you love… well, here’s to the delicious adventure of mixing lives.
